Hello 2011! - Josh Maurer

First post on here for 2011! I have some new things in the works for the new year, first off, I have a new sponsor I am VERY excited to announce. Hinde Chiropractic Center in Scotts Valley. They have helped in the recovery in all of my major injuries in the last couple years and I am very happy to add them to my list of sponsors. Dr. Aaron Hinde is great with athletes and I have had a ton of success with his help.

I also got a couple photos back from my photoshoot with Pat Branch. Check them out! Photo 1, 2, 3...

On another note, I broke my wrist on Christmas Eve this year doing a ride for fun with my friend. Thankfully my wife was waiting at the bottom to bring me to the ER. I just got the cast off last week and I am not doing some physical therapy and soon some cold laser therapy thanks to Hinde Chiropractic. I am hoping to be back on a bike in 3-4 more weeks.

(if you don't see your logo on here, I need more stickers!)

More updates to come soon.

Cody Eichhorn Bike Check

SLO Photo Shoot - Allen Stoddard

I spent this past weekend riding and hanging out with some friends in San Luis Obispo which is about two hours south of my house. I was spoiled with good dirt in Santa Cruz for the past week so riding in SLO was a different story. SLO trails are really rocky, shaley, and rather dry. I met up with Nate and Ben Furbee who are some local pinners and showed me the way of the SLO trails. The trail we rode first was called "Face" which is super gnarly and steep. I have never been so scared to ride a bike in my life. My mentality while riding this trail was "stay on the bike". Once I got down the hill I was super pumped that I made it down in one piece! After that we drove some other trails that Nate and Ben had made awhile back. The trails were only about 30 seconds long but they were fun and fast. The sun went down sooner than we expected and had to call it a day.

A good friend of mine just got into photography and asked me if he could get some shots of me riding so we went out for an afternoon and got some really great photos! Here are some of his shots.

Off Season Activities - Allen Stoddard

Sorry about the lack of updates! I have been relaxing and taking advantage of the off season. Thanksgiving and Christmas was definitely a good time with family and friends. I've been spoiled with delicious food and desserts. Golf courses and the beach became familiar spots for me this winter. I went snow boarding for the first time this winter break as well. Surprisingly, I did better than I expected on the slopes. I had a blast hanging out with my beautiful girlfriend, Breanna, this winter and can't wait to make more memories with her when I see her again. Also during this off season, I got picked up by Banshee Bikes to race for the team for 2011. I was shipped a Banshee Scythe frame and built it up to be a super dialed bike. It rides incredibly well for being such a simple frame design. I am looking forward to this season to be my best one yet.

My 2011 Banshee Scythe. The new fork should be arriving soon!

Christmas Vacation and 2011 - Max Houtzager

The rest of Christmas Break was even better, with more riding, surfing, snowboarding, and WAY more epic food. Couldn’t ask for more (literally, breaking diet in Hawaii, so much Island/Japanese food).

Got a few POW days in at Squaw, RALLIED the Subaru in the snow and kept on getting FRESH TRACKS as more and more lifts opened (3rd chair Headwall, NBD...). Check the clip below.

Going to Hawaii with my surf-friend Erik Solli, my sister and her best friend was unreal. Pipe was going off perfectly for the Backdoor Shootout. Surfed tons of epic spots all over Oahu(some super localized, real sketchy) with amazing nature/scenery and warm water. Also nearly got sucked out from Freddyland to Phantoms on a messy gnarly day, aka from an inside reform left to way outside in XXL surf where tow teams were out. We knew when a ski went by, we needed to work are asses off just to paddle in. Not safe...

Also been doing some more massive climbing days, getting more used to it, and more fit of course. My bikes are nearly dialed too! Working up speed on trails and dialing suspension really makes a difference. The new stiff 2011 Epic with dialed suspension can really make it down gnarly trails pretty quick. Especially when your wearing one of the new badass Whole Athlete Specialized Kits...

As for what’s coming, I’m 18 now, itching to race, the weather starting to turn around with some occasional blue skies and mild weather, and Costa Rica in February right before the first race!

Snow ride!

Our friend and Royal Racing designer Tavish Capewell has been putting some time in on our pedals and in the most extreme conditions! Check out some photos from yesterday's ride in Squamish, BC.

Fontana Winter Series Round 1

The Southridge Fontana Winter Series has started back up once again. Traction looked pretty good with all the recent rain Southern California has been getting, making it thee time to race considering it is a smoldering dust bowl in the Summer. Awesome turn out and some strong talent in the pro class. Stay tuned for regular updates from each race.

Graeme Pitts had a strong 10th place finish out of the 30+ pros. Only 3 seconds off the box.

Great to see Christian Wright back on the bike and with an impressive 2nd place finish in the Junior-X class. Only 0.27 seconds off of first place!
