The US Open!

Last weekend, Mountain Creek Resort in majestic Vernon, NJ held the annual US Open. A stand alone race from all the other cup series in North America. With the top pro male and female taking home $5,000 each, as well as huge prizes for amateurs; it always brings big names and loud crowds! This year, practice and qualifying went off without a hit. The weather was beautiful and the trails in good shape. It was not until Sunday afternoon that the skies opened up and absolutely poured for 45 minutes. Fortunately the amateur men had already finished, but only two junior riders were able to make it down before the lift was shut-off and the remaining riders were asked to head down the hill to find shelter. The rocks got slick, and the dirt got a little wet. Most riders were using dry tires and did not expect it to get as slick as it did, especially for the junior men and pro women who went after the rain. In the end, it was Sam Hill and Miranda Miller who grabbed the cash.

Evan Turpen was looking fast all day, throwing down whips in practice, he always seems to feel at home here. With a top 10 finish he certainly turned a lot of heads as to what ET can truly do on a bike. Evan uses our Split-Second DM stem in a 31.8mm clamp size. It increases stiffness while keeping his bike light, please check one out.

Katie Holden is capable of some fast times on a bike. She had a couple mistakes in her qualifier and still managed a 6th place! She knows she can win and pushed it hard for the final. Although she rides even better in the wet, unfortunately a couple crashes knocked her off the podium. Katie uses our limited edition nickel version of the Split-Second DM stem. Even lighter, yet remaining as stiff.

Special thanks to Jason @ Sicklines for the photos.
