Santa Ynez Valley National

The Point One Racing crew ventured down to beautiful Los Olivos, CA for the Santa Ynez Valley National. This was the 5th stop on the Kenda Cup West tour (3rd stop after Fontana and Sea Otter if you are a gravity racer). High winds on Saturday made DH practice and dual slalom racing pretty interesting.

Jimmy and Alex Amaral raced dual slalom and both finished very well. 5th in Pro men for Jimmy and 2nd for Alex in Jr. Expert.

After a quiet and cold evening of camping under a new moon. Sunday morning was the traditional pancake breakfast, we do it every year. Winds died down considerably, which meant it was on for DH racing. Jordan Lopez was fastest on the day for Point One Racing (3rd in Pro).

Jr. Expert riders Alex Amaral, Logan Kemp and Allen Stoddard all were in a battle for the lead after their first runs. In the end it was Alex who barely edged out Allen and unfortunately Logan crashed in his second run. Placing 3rd, 4th and 9th place, respectively.

Chris Lauber, no longer in Jr. Ex moved into the 19-24 big boy class. He held his own and finished a very impressive 6th place.

Jimmy Amaral was on fire all weekend. Seems like both Kevin Aiello and Eric Carter were the guys to beat and Jimmy was definately on par. A few mistakes in his race runs unfortunately gave him a still respectable 6th place finish in Pro men.
