Welcome to the US Open!

Point One made an appearance at this year's US Open at the majestic Mountain Creek resort in Vernon, NJ. Man-eating spiders and lyme-disease infested ticks did not slow me down enough to where I could not report the news of this fantastic upset! (Please I apologize for the quality of the photos, they were taken with my phone)

Here is the view from the start where riders must negotiate 1100 feet of descent in less than 3 minutes...

Here is a shot looking down at one of the craziest sections on the course, quite a few riders went down through here.

This is the same section but looking up towards it.

One of the amateur men riding down this giant rock slab.

One of the pro ladies coming through a quick straightaway into a step down.

Here is the step-down coming out of the straightaway.

The beginning of a fast section of S-berms in the trees, this is where your cornering ability will make or break you.

On the way out of the S-berms.

Here is a shot of a pro rider coming out of the woods.

A beautiful view of the resort from the same spot.

The pride and joy of Aptos, CA...Evan Turpen (Kona/Fox Shox).

Fastest American qualifer Curtis Keene (Decline Team America) snapped one of his cogs in half after landing the massive jump before the finish line.

5th place went to Andrew Neethling (Mongoose) with a 2:41.430

4th place went to Matti Lehikoinen (MS Intense) 2:41.011

3rd place went to last year's winner Bryn Atkinson (GT/Hyundai), 2:38.603

2nd place went to the fastest qualifer, current World Champion, World Cup Champion and the favorite to win by far...Samuel Hill (Monster Energy/Iron Horse) 2:37.326

1st place and the upset went to Canada's Steve Smith (Cove Bikes), 2:36.737.

Awesome venue, great prize money and world-class riders! We will see you back again next year!
