A warm day in Salinas, CA last weekend brought on the CCCX DH finals! With some of the usual suspects out of town that weekend, it was a no-holds-barred for some other racers to score a podium spot. The course was similar to that of round 1. The typical fast, fireroad start with some new cut-ins on the single-track portions. Point One Racing athletes' proudly represented and took home some impressive overall finishes.
Mike Amaral was solo this weekend from the Amaral clan, however that did not slow him down. A second place in the race, gave him second overall for the series. Consistency scores points.
Scott Seery raced his "klunker" again in the single-speed category, proving yet again skills alone (with the help of fitness) can win races! A first place in hardtail and second in single-speed gave him first and third overall in those respective categories.
Ian Massey has been showing everybody he has the necessary strength and commitment to win the Pro class, with the final race of the series, he did not disappoint. With a second of a margin over Keith Morelan, he took the win and the overall, awesome job!
Speaking of Keith, his first series in the Pro class was as impressive as one could hope. A second place in the finals and a fifth overall in the series is something to be proud of!
Josh Maurer is also racing pro for the first time this series. A veteran to this venue, he decided to step up his game and it is paying off. A ninth place finish in the finals and a sixth place overall is something to also take with you into the next series where those valuable skills will continue to mature.
Congratulations to all who raced, we will see you back in the Fall...
Special thanks to Rick Rasmussen for the photos.
