Blazing clear skies led to some hot temperatures at round # 7 of the CCCX spring/summer DH series in Salinas, CA. Traction was an issue as dry weather has caused the trails to become very dusty and loose. Not to mention it was the longest course of the series, being apart of the California "Super-D" series, times were in the 7-8 minute range.
Ian Massey barely nudged out Jimmy Amaral, beating him by just over a second. Overall race is tight between them, with just a 12 point difference, it will come down to the final race and double points! Jonathan Clark from SF Dirt Lab rounded out the top 3.
In the Junior Expert class, Alex Amaral secured a second place behind Keith Morelan. Alex has been pinning it the whole series and it still battling for the overall title. He is 3rd overall, but only 4 points behind 2nd place, with the final round coming in less than two weeks, all bets will be off!
Scott Seery is currently undefeated this series, with a comfortable lead in the overall title chase, you can be sure that Scott won't risk it all in the final round. This past weekend he put the stomp on 2nd place and won by over 35 seconds, way to go!
Tim Lukko has missed a couple rounds this series, but made an appearance on the long course. Having a couple bobbles, he placed 4th in the Sport 19-34 class with a time of 8min flat. Unfortunately his other Point One Racing team members were more than a minute quicker.
Special thanks to Rick Rasmussen for the photos and we will see you back in a couple of weeks for the finals!
