CCCX DH #3

Another beautiful day for the CCCX DH series. With sunny skies and temperatures around 70 degrees, it was sure to make for ideal racing conditions. Using a course that has not been done in a while, racers started further up a different ridge from previous races this series. Pro times hovered around 5:30 minutes, making it a very pedally course. However if you are a skilled enough rider, you could pump most of it. All together the course was pretty dry. Coming down a fast fireroad to single track, riders were on an off-camber trail down wide open hills, nicknamed the "Serengeti." From there it was through more single track in the trees, crossing the road and up a short sprint climb which seems to be used almost every race. All leading to a fast sprint to the finish. Points are starting to tighten up a bit after this race, be on the look out for a few more exciting race reports until the finals in January

Jimmy Amaral pulled double duty with racing both Pro and Chainless, seen here doing a wheelie across the finish line during his chainless run. 2nd in Chainless should keep him first in points, however a couple mistakes missed the box in the pro class.

Patrick Tidd has been unstoppable, with another convincing win in the expert 45+ class, he is sure to wrap up a clinch early. Pat's daughter Ruby also made the podium in her class, awesome job!

Hans Keisler has also been doing double duty racing both Pro and Chainless. Having admitted his fitness is not there yet after unfortunately being out for most of the 2009 season, he finished a little off the back. Next time!

Ian Massey put down the hammer and pedaled as hard as he could, going up against some notably fit and fast riders, he managed a top 3, way to go Ian!

Chris Lauber has missed a few races already this series, but that did not stop him from bringing his big bike to a small bike course. Racing in the expert 19+ class, he managed an impressive third place!

Co-founder Tim Lukko raced on his 5" travel bike which proved to be the better option for him. Other riders in his class still seemed to be able to out pedal him and unfortunately missed the box by a couple riders.

Alex Amaral was on fire this weekend! Having finished less than a second ahead of his older brother his level of skill and fitness is finally coming all together. Ending up 6th in the pro class. Very nicely done!

CCCX Cyclocross take 2

Last weekend was another CCCX Cyclocross race at Manzanita Park in Prunedale, CA. A course mixed with road elements made it a difficult challenge for Point One Racing's Tim Lukko. In a tireless effort to constantly test our products, the all-new Podium Pedal was chosen as opposed to clipless. The pedal offers the rider an incredibly simple, yet unique light-weight package with unparalleled stiffness that cannot be matched by any competitor. This video is an addendum to the old school video from last week. It was filmed around the same time and features Jimmy Amaral, among other racers at Sand Hill Ranch in Brentwood, CA.

CCCX DH #2

This past weekend, CCCX held race #2 of the Fall DH series. With unseasonably warm temperatures, new course and large turnout, racers had their work cut out for them in order to compete at the highest level. Jumps, drops and berms were added in this week and the excitement levels were high. A familiar fire-road start led to a series of sandy berms which dump you out at high speed to a short, sprint uphill. From there riders were shot straight down the hill on a fast single-track where they faced sandy rutted out sections, jumps and drops, all leading to a fantastic pedal finish. We all look forward to seeing this exact course used again for another race this series. A lot of hype circled around the new Podium Pedal, with everyone eagerly awaiting their arrival. Pre-ordering is now available and look for them to ship in a few weeks.

Jimmy Amaral had the same idea, however he accomplished it even faster with his time saving tuck. A couple of crashes in his race run ended him up at 5th for the day in Pro and 4th in chainless.


Ian Massey was an animal powering through the sprint sections, seen here he is launching himself off one of the jumps. Ian was one of the few riders on a smaller bike and still had a great 6th place finish.


Alex Amaral missed out on a photo again this race, however he was blazing fast for his second time in the pro class. Unfortunately a crash in his race run knocked him off the podium.

Hans Keisler went pro and chainless this week in an effort to gain as many points as he can. With a couple mistakes, he ended up off the back a bit. However still an impressive outing for racing two classes.


Patrick Tidd and his daughter, Ruby, made the trek down from Mt. Shasta. Pat had a convincing win in the expert 45-54 class, racing against quite a few ghost riders. Ruby did an awesome job and got 3rd in her class.

Old School

The roots of Point One Racing begin here. Circa 2001 video of Tim Lukko and Jimmy Amaral riding around the local trails where they grew-up. Warning - Most of the riding in this video was considered extreme by the freeride standards of the day...enjoy!

CCCX Cyclocross!

The CCCX series that attracts local racers from the Bay Area for some on (and off) season training not only includes the downhill and cross-country series, but is also cyclocross, which is where it all began (hence CCCX - Central Coast Cyclocross). Cyclocross was traditionally the off-season training for road bikers to keep fit in the Winter time, however it has turned into it's own separate animal over the years. Racers will start in a big heard and then start to drift apart after countless laps on the 1-2 mile course. Point One Racing's Tim Lukko raced Men's C for his first attempt at the new, fun challenge. Turns out with all the sprinting, it sharpens your skills for downhill racing. In the future we hope to have more Point One racers make a statement at these types of events.
